Considering the low flow capacity and poor anti-aging properties of ZnO varistors in the market, a research team under Prof. Gaojie Xu focused on the study of varistor’s microstructure, composition, and performance. After multiple testing, optimizing of components, and preparation process, they have sucessfully prepared the high-performace Zinc Oxide varistors. For Ф32mm varistors, the large electric current flow capacity of 4/10 ms can reach to 65KA , and the aging coefficient is less than 0.8. Moreover, the development of high-voltage gradient varistor materials can significantly reduce the cost of production. Actively cooperating with industries, the research team has successfully established a Production-Study-Research alliance based on Laboratory Studies - Pilot Study - Industrial Production. It Makes the research results can be timely applied. Furthermore, they established with industries the ‘Ningbo Varistor Materials Engineering Technology Research Center’ together.
