With the mission of developing the industrial technologies for tissue replacement and repair for clinical applications, the Division of Biomedical Materials and Devices focuses on the fundamental and applied research of surface biomedical engineering, biological 3D printing technology, biomedical polymer materials, among others. Surface and interface functionalization, cell-induced differentiation, and tissue regeneration and repair are the main research concerns. The research is destined for breakthroughs in key technologies for novel bioactive coating materials, wound regeneration and repair materials, and artificial joint materials, as well as creating new ideas and methods for the design and fabrication of biomedical materials and devices. Fundamental research, as well as technology development and industrialization are both essential for this research area.
