The division focuses on the laser-based precision manufacturing, ultrasonic manufacturing, electrical & hybrid manufacturing. Various global experts were introduced into the Research Centre for Laser Extreme Manufacturing (RCLEM) to explore laser-based manufacturing S&T, including additive manufacturing, laser synthesis of single/double atoms, laser machining, laser micro/nano fabrication with tailored light fields, laser welding, drilling, surface engineering, hybrid manufacturing processes, laser processing of materials in extreme environments and low-carbon manufacturing. Ultrasonic machining research focuses on the advanced ultrasonic processing systems and engineering applications. Hybrid laser-ultrasonic, laser-electro-chemical and laser-electrical machining are investigated to improve manufacturing efficiency, precision and quality.
