On the Opening Ceremony of the 12th World Biomaterials Congress (WBC) held in Daegu, South Korea, May 26-31, Prof. WU Aiguo from the Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering (NIMTE), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), was inducted as Fellow of Biomaterials Science and Engineering (FBSE) by the International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science and Engineering (IUSBSE), in recognition of his research contributions.
It is the highest distinction the global biomaterials community can bestow on outstanding scientists. Fellows are recognized for their excellent professional standing and high achievements in the field of biomaterials science and engineering. The fellow status is awarded for life and elections are held every four years world-wide. Up to now, only 64 Chinese researchers have received this honor.
Prof. WU dedicated himself to the cutting-edge research development of biomedical imaging probes and related instruments & equipment, yielding an innovative research system of MRI probes, contrast-enhanced ultrasound imaging probes, NPY targeted tumor therapy visualization imaging probes and instrument development.
Prof. WU is a leading scholar with over 300 publications in high-impact journals and published four monographs. He has applied for 227 invention patents with 110 patents issued, and presided over 40 scientific research projects.
He has also received numerous honors and recognition during his career, including the Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB), National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars of China, etc.
