On Director Ping Cui’s invitation, Academician Chi Wu, who is the Chairman of the Chemistry Department, Professor Emeritus of the Physics Department, Chinese University of Hong Kong, visited NIMTE from Sept. 23rd to 24th. Academician Wu devotes himself to the reseach on macromolecules and colloidal, he is the first winner of the Kuo Mo-jo's Scholarship from the University of Science and Technology of China, a recipient of the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award from New York State University, an Award for Outstanding Young Scholars, an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship Germany, a Young Scientist Award from Chinese Academy of Sciences, an Outstanding Research Award from Hong Kong Croucher Foundation, the Second Class Prize of National Natural Science Award, a National Outstanding Award. On September 23, 2009, Academician Wu gave a public lecture “Explore how to read and study with young teachers and students”. Director Ping Cui presided over the lecture, Deputy Director Qing Yan attended it. More than 250 professors, graduate students from NIMTE and Ningbo University participated. It was an excellent speech that was impressed by all listeners.
In addition, Academician Wu made his presentations on “How Macromolecules Pass through a Nanopore”, and “Viscoelastic effect on formation of mesoglobular phase (nanoparticles) in dilute solutions – A point of view different from thermodynamics” respectivelyon on September 24, 2009.
