Strengthening International Cooperation, Creating an International Research Environment
Under the circumstances of globalization, scientific cooperation on an international scale is a key factor for a sustainable society. Therefore, NIMTE has set forth a clear principle of international partnership since its inception in 2004, which is to serve as a bridge and platform for international cooperation and exchange in combination with talent introduction and cultivation, the philosophy of the institute for development, and the local development needs.
Furthermore, NIMTE strengthens international cooperation via the following methods:
(1) S&T exchange activities, such as academic visits and organization of and participation in international seminars;
(2) recruitment and introduction of overseas experts;
(3) substantive technology cooperation based on projects, such as collaborative research and technology commercialization;
(4) establishing R&D entities, such as joint laboratories and joint technology centers.
As an international scientific research institution, NIMTE keeps pace with the trend of globalization and will continuously expand its international network with partners across the world. By participating in international academic activities, dispatching individuals to work in certain international groups, and increasing efforts to attract the most talented researchers to join the institute, we wish to deploy resources more efficiently and generate immense economic value under international cooperation. In doing so, the institute significantly contributes to enhancing the international competitiveness of the Chinese economy. To date, NIMTE has built up long-term exchanges and cooperative relationships with over 100 universities and institutes as well as world-renowned corporations, such as Shell, Boeing and NGK, from over 30 countries.
The institute has altogether signed over 100 cooperation agreements with the above-mentioned partners. By offering concurrent positions, conducting collaborative research, and receiving short-term visits, NIMTE has successfully recruited nearly 300 international scientists. On the other hand, NIMTE has gained more international fame through a number of important international conferences and S&T exchange activities.
