The energy industry is not only the basic industry of the national economy but also a technology-intensive industry. Being “safe, efficient, and low-carbon” is the main characteristics of modern energy technologies and features of the main direction needed for new achievements in the future of energy technology. In addition, it is now a common global responsibility to develop new energy technology to solve the environmental and ecological problems brought by the consumption of fossil fuels. To realize the efficient utilization of new energy sources, the key technologies of energy conversion and storage should be provided, and the related costs should be decreased. The energy research programs focus on a series of key technologies along the value chain of energy conversion, energy storage, and energy efficiency. We here conduct innovation activities in a broad field of new energy to address the national strategic energy demands, render the technical support for energy industry, provide consultant service for a variety of organizations, and incubate new technologies.
