Laboratory of Advanced Nuclear Materials
The lab embraces multidisciplinary practices spanning material physics/chemistry, metallurgy, ceramics, polymers, computational materials, material informatics, electro-mechanics control and others. Promoted by the national energy security and sustainability demand, the lab integrates the R&D advantages of professional teams, as well as strengthening the exchanges and cooperations with domestic and foreign institutions, for tackling the key materials issues in nuclear energy systems. The research involves laminated ternary carbides/nitrides (MAX phases) and their derivatives (MXene), SiC fibers and their composites, the design and evaluation of structural materials under extreme environmental conditions, novel materials coating, simulation of composite materials processing and high-temperature molten salts chemistry.
