Academic Lecture: Designing the Neuro-Electronic Interface From Nanostructured to Flexible Electrodes
Oct 08, 2026

SPEAKER: Prof. Dr. Andreas Offenhäusser

TIME: 10:00, Sept. 21, 2026

VENUE: Room 709, Bianguan Building, NIMTE

Abstract:

Neural electrodes are the core components of neuroelectronic devices, enabling the recording and stimulation of neural activity. Our research focuses on two primary areas: (1) the design and characterization of the neuron-electrode interface, and (2) the development of flexible neural interfaces for both in vivo and in vitro applications. Microelectrode arrays, which serve as a bridge between neuronal systems and electronic devices, still face challenges in signal fidelity and the precision of neural modulation. Through advances in electrode architecture, interface characterization, and device flexibility, these studies aim to improve the performance of neural recording and stimulation technologies and support the development of next-generation neuroelectronic systems.
