Ningbo College of Materials Technology & Engineering (NCMTE), University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) was approved in 2015. With an investment of about 700 million yuan, the college will be built on 6.5 hectares of land with a gross floor area of around 96,000 square meters. In 2022, NCMTE will be unveiled and put into use as a campus with an open-style design. The college will adhere to the philosophy of "being a small but unique international college" to support local industries, and it is expected to have 2,000 postgraduates and a staff of 400 in 2025.

After enrolling 785 new students in 2021, NIMTE currently has altogether 1930 postgraduates, which are at record highs. In 2021, over 110 students won honors and awards at different levels, including one PhD student winning the CAS President's Special Award, the highest level of CAS scholarships.

NIMTE has dedicated itself to the construction of the supervisor team, with two supervisers winning the CAS Ling-yan Award and the Excellent Supervisor Award, respectively. In addition, 22 high-level technical talents supervisors from influential enterprises such as ZRCC, BULL, were introduced as NIMTE part-time supervisors to provide guidences for students studing for specialized degrees.

NIMTE signed agreements with several universities such as Xi’an Jiaotong University, Lanzhou University, Shanghai University, Zhejiang University of Technology, Jiangxi University of Science and Technology, Wenzhou Medical Unversity, etc. to jointly supervise postgraduates.

Considering the seeking, nurturing and managing of high-profile scientific talents as its focal point, NIMTE has cultivated a great quantity of eminent professionals for national and local governments on the basis of its rigorous scientific atmosphere, excellent supervisors and sophisticated discipline layout and research platforms. The employment rate of the year 2021 reached 98%, with a batch of graduates employed in influential enterprises, such as HUAWEI, ZTE, Sinopec, CNPC, etc. Moreover, 32% graduates choose to live in Ningbo for work or further education after graduation.
